This list is for future-oriented projects to find funding outside of traditional funding sources.
Generally, I hope we can shift the economic Overton window to support many such projects–-through deploying capital (via the funds listed here), and through designing new incentives.
What's the criterion for this list? Why is X included or Y not included?
This is a living document and I'd like your feedback.
"Future-oriented" projects are those that may take longer to realize their social or financial value than is encouraged by mainstream market forces.
Long-term oriented funds seek out these projects.
For funds, this can mean offering support for certain industries, or accepting a longer-than-normal time to liquidity.
For grants and fellowships, this usually means looking for high potential upside, rather than favoring safer-looking or more-established projects.
I'm part of one of the organizations on the list and want to update our information.
